About
Hestia is the Greek goddess of the hearth and home. On the most basic level, it may be obvious why I chose to “defy Hestia” with a feminist message — challenging the idea of the domestic woman and such. The other reason I want to defy Hestia comes from a bit of trivia I discovered: She gave up her spot as an Olympian to Dionysus, the god of wine, madness and ecstasy. Unlike Hestia, I do not believe that any woman should give up her claim to power to any man, let alone to a man who is a crazy drunk.
My name is Hannah. I am a student at a liberal arts college in central Texas. I hail from California, and my heart still belongs to the beaches of Monterey. I am a member of a sorority and teach special needs individuals how to ride horses. I am a Democrat and a feminist. I will always listen to your side of the story if you listen to mine. I believe in a higher power, but not necessarily in a God. I have my opinions. It’s up to you whether you listen to them.
